The Blount County Memorial Museum was
opened to the public in 1970.  The museum was
made possible by the efforts of the Blount County
Historical Society and Blount County residents,
building on a memorial fund of $2,500.00 to
honor Blount County war veterans which was
donated in the 1950's.  It was perhaps the most
important project undertaken by the historical
society to date.
Today, the museum stands proudly to display
the united efforts of those individuals and
organizations that chose to honor Blount
County's war veterans and to appreciate the
heritage of the past and the need to preserve it.
This is a debt we owe to the past, present and
future.
The museum archives include more than 1000
research volumes and over 500 files on Blount
County families.  The museum offers:
publications by local authors, post cards, prints,
note cards, art print ceramic tiles, and souvenirs
of Blount County.
The Museum has a meeting area with a seating
capacity of fifty is available to civic, school and
tour groups.
The Museum is offering free access to
ancestory.com for Historical Society members.
