Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament
3222 County Road 548
Hanceville, Al 35077
www.olamshrine.com
The Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament was founded by Mother Angelica in 1999. It
is a Temple consecrated to Almighty God, and open to people of all faiths. Visitors often
remark that this Temple is an oasis of silence and peace, and Mother Angelica explains
that this is because, “when you come into the Temple you are in the presence of the
Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.”
It is located on some 380 acres of isolated farmland and yet rivals the famous
cathedrals of Europe in its beauty. The Shrine adjoins the monastery of Our Lady of the
Angels, where Mother Angelica and her sisters keep Perpetual Adoration of Jesus in
the Blessed Sacrament. On the property there is also a year round cave display of the
nativity and a reproduction of the grotto at Lourdes . The property also includes a
reproduction of a medieval castle with a gift shop, dining area, and conference room.
Everything on site is open to the public.
Out of respect for the Lord present in the Most
Blessed Sacrament, The nuns request that you not wear shorts, tank tops, sleeveless
shirts, or mini-skirts inside the Church.
Photography is not permitted inside of the
church as it may distract people at prayer, but it is permitted everywhere else on the
grounds.
Admission is Free.
Hours of operation:

Sunday  6:00AM-6:00PM
Gift Shop is open Monday-Saturday  8:00AM-4:45PM

Turkey Creek, a tributary of Locust Fork, is located a mere 20 minutes north of
Birmingham near the community of Pinson. Turkey Creek is home to three endangered
species of fish: the Vermilion Darter (Etheostoma chermocki), the Watercress Darter
(Etheostoma nuchale), and the Rush Darter (Etheostoma phytophilum). The Rush and
Vermilion Darters occur only in Turkey Creek and nowhere else in the world.

In addition to significant biological diversity, The Turkey Creek watershed has great
historical significance. Since the 1870s, historical accounts record extensive use of the
Turkey Creek Falls, located within today’s Nature Preserve site, for picnicking and
outdoor recreation.
DUE TO FIRE, SAFETY AND WATER QUALITY RISK, CHARCOAL GRILLS ARE NOT
ALLOWED TO BE USED IN THE PRESERVE.
